Dexter New Blood premiered on Sunday. Not sure if any of you guys were into the original Dexter Series, but if you know me, you are aware that I was.

The first episode was good. I wish they had picked up where they left off, but I get the time gap since the series has been away.

But I do love how the creators decided to bring it back after I had started on a fan fiction. Always nice. lol

I loved the original series of Dexter, especially the first three seasons. Unfortunately it lost its way towards the end and the ending itself was a big disappointment.

I'm looking forward to seeing the new series. Sounds like Dexter is no longer the clinical serial killer and has got sloppy during his time in Oregon. He now works in a gun shop in New York and has a cop for a room mate. Two things the early Dexter would have avoided.

Completely agree. It got bad the last half of the series after the original director left the show. He is said to be back now, so hopefully new blood will ill be good. The first episode was good, but I need the gaps filled. How did you go from being a logger in Oregon to a small town in New York?

We're talking about Dexter here, the guy probably got the urge to kill again like most serial killers. Something must have triggered his dark desires. New York is the perfect city to get away with his crimes with it's dense population.

I can't get Showtime in Spain so don't know when I can see the show.

The first episode, not to spoil, has him ten years later leading a fake life in a very small town in New York. He hasn't killed since the end of the last series, and the urge has been building ever since.

I just need the gap filled. Even if he says, "Yeah, faked my death before going to Oregon for a few years and then leaving for New York," I would find that sufficient. They probably won't though.

Is his father still talking to him or has he been replaced? I'm thinking maybe his sister as I see the actress is in the credits and her character was killed off.

The sister now talks to him. If you recall, in the second to last episode he told his father that he did not need him anymore. But after his sister died in the final, she is now his conscience in physical form.

Second episode was good. I got my explanation of what happened after the end of the main series. Basic, but I am glad they did it.

I wonder how lomg before the series is shown on Netflicks, Prime, or Disney. They are the three I'm subscribed to, we don't have Showtime in Spain.

I'm betting after the season ends. I have never subscribed to Showtime before two weeks ago. Luckily, my cable provider offered it for half off for six months of service, so I jumped at that. I previously watched Dexter on Netfix as well.

What you're going through reminds me of Doc Martin airing in the US compared to Britain. I always have to wait like an extra year before it makes it way here.

I think you're right, it will show on Netflicks after the season has finished airing on Showtime. Netflicks in Spain is currently showing the old seasons of Dexter.

Yeah. I won't spoil it for you though. It's good thus far. Not so incredible that I'm jumping off the wall, but it has had its good points.

The one thing I will tell you is that he's doing some cop chick. I find it a little funny how she's a cop and looks oddly familiar to his sister, especially since they pulled the angle of him and his sister after they brought the idea to life in the main series, but maybe it's just me.

Look up Dexter New Blood Angela and compare to Debra from Dexter and tell me what you think.

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's the shape of the head. I've seen that actress before, I think she is Omera in The Mandalorian.

I'm surpised the actress who plays Deborah is still involved with Dexter as she was married to Michael C. Hall and then got divorced.

I hear they stayed good friends. Probably realized they were better friends than spouses.

Yeah, I think most people can say they are better friends with someone rather than romantic partners of the same. Sometimes you fall in love with someone as a friend, and that's all it will ever be. At least they are cordial with one another.

Neither of them did much of note after Dexter, I think they both realise it's in their best interests to get along so they can make some money rebooting what made them initially famous. Michael C. Hall has talent, the actress who plays Deborah unfortunately does not, not surprised she didn't get much work afterwards.

The best actor was the guy who played the dictator in the Expendables with Stallone, that guy for me was the star of the show.

I think it is hard staring in such an iconic series. Like anything else they are ever in will never compare, and everyone will always remember them for Dexter.

Absolutely, that's why some actors are reluctant to play the same character for too long because they know they will struggle to get work afterwards as they will forever identified with that character. It ruined the careers of Henry Winkler, Christopher Reeves, and Adam West (The Fonz, Superman, and Batman). Whenever I see Michael C Hall now I see Dexter.

Yeah, I have to figure it's both a blessing and a curse to earn a breakthrough role.

I saw his sister once in some crime show. I loved seeing her, but all I saw was Deb Morgan. lol

Let's be real: If I saw either of them in real life, I would call them Dexter or Deb. XD

Lol, that's the problem actors try to avoid. Unless you are a great actor like a Harrison Ford who has played several iconic characters in a series of movies (Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark etc.) you run the risk of being unemployable if you get associated with a character too much. If I remember correctly, Jennifer Carpenter who plays Deborah Morgan gained her start in movies as a screem queen, B movie actresses known for playing terrified victims in horror movies who were always screaming.
