Chips have always been required for pets wherever I have lived. Smart technology if your pet ever gets lost.

I am not completely off board with chipping people, but only if said chip just has medical information about the individual that hospitals can scan in emergencies (ie blood type, illnesses, allergies, etc.)

I make you right Warrior13, I don't mind that. Once you start adding bank details and stuff then I'm not too keen on the idea. Only a matter of time before criminals can scan copies of the chips by just being in the same vincinity as you and then accessing your details.

Precisely, just a way to hack people if you go that far. That and tracking would be a big no-no.

I wonder why convicted criminals are not tagged with a chip when they are released? The technology is there, surely it would help the police catch more criminals as they typically hang around together. I personally think it should be a case that if you get convicted, you lose the right to decline being tagged on grounds of human rights.

Massive personal privacy concerns here in the US along with the implication that criminals are now second-class citizens that need to be tracked like a pet. That kind of thing will never happen here for specific groups against their will. It'll either be everyone gets it, you choose to get it, or nobody gets it.

That's a very interesting concept, Dennis. I doubt it will ever happen, as Mike alluded to, but it does make me wonder how many people would commit criminal acts if they knew they would be chipped.

Well, the possibility of being locked away in a cell for years hasn't exactly stopped a ton of it so I'm not sure a chip would either.

The way I look at is is, if you don't want to be a second-class citizen that is tracked like a pet then stay away from crime. If I was in charge, pedophiles, rapists etc would be chipped for the safey of children and women.

I mean yeah, I'm with ya. Can't do the time, don't do the crime. But that isn't exactly the most popular mindset these days.

Yeah. Seems like a lot of people are getting away with petty crimes like no tomorrow these days. Its quite sad that any of it is accepted at all.

That's for sure. Look into the Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. A super-progressive democrat that's slowly reforming the justice system. You basically have to commit cold-blooded murder captured on video to face any sort of consequences in Philly. Meanwhile violent crime is at an all-time high and Philly is now ranked as the most dangerous large city in the country. I'm not sure if the guy just hates cops or what, but it really seems like he has convicted more cops than actual criminals. What a joke.

Seems like a common theme in most of the bigger cities across the US. If you let that stuff go on without punishment, it will never end.

That's the problem, when there is no harsh deterrent, people are prepared to take a chance and try and to get away with a crime. If they know they are going to get into serious trouble if they are caught they will think twice about doing it.

I could never work out why serial killers in the US weren't immediately sentenced to death once found guilty, killers like Ricard Rameriz, Ted Bundy, and Charles Manson managed to drag their case through the court of appeal for so long.

Yeah, bad wave of crime in the US recently. At least its making the leaders realize that the police are necessary.

You would hope. What I'm seeing is just bolder criminals, like Dennis said. I have a family member that works in the courts and they are still doing court sessions over zoom, and it's such a mess getting people to show up and deal with the technical issues that they are just dismissing cases left and right to not have to deal with any of it.

After seeing the way the police are treated and looked upon in the US it's not going to be a popular career option for younger genetations so crime will get worse. I keep hearing of cases where people are mysteriously dying in police custody and over zealous cops killing people they are trying to apprehend.

What happened with the racial riots in the US because of it, did it blow over or is it still happening but not being reported.

It's very polarizing here, there's a lot of people that don't like the police but also a ton that support them 100% and fly "thin blue line" flags.

There are still small riots every time a black person dies by the police but it has mostly died down. The corporations all got their money's worth out of supporting it and milked it dry.

Yeah, the uproar wave has pretty much ended. Now its just criminals robbing for no reason. Dumb politicians need to get a grip and realize that police are essential in keeping order. Just because sometimes a person dies, always resisting arrest or questioning btw, does not mean the entire system is flawed. Thats like saying surgery should be thrown out the window because someone dies on the operating table. Its gonna happen. Refine the system the best you can, and maybe teach people not to resist and exasperate things.

I agree, there are going to be dubious instances where something strange happens that shouldn't happen but it is unfair to tar every policeman and woman with the same brush as they are brave taking on such a dangerous profession to keep the community safe. It's a shame the public don't support the police more. I'm sure white people have also mysteriously died occasionally while in police custody.

Can someone explain this to me, it doesn't bother me, just intrigues me. Why is it there is a black musician month, a black history month, magazines like Ebony that specialize in reporting the black community yet there are no white counterparts, and if there are they would be deemed as racist and righfully so.

How does that work? Shouldn't there be the same rule for everyone.
