Because double/triple posting is annoying and is against the rules, and we don't want to get banned. Simple enough yes?
Oh and becoming a mod, you don't have to worry about that for now. ;) Just keep posting and you'll learn and eventually can apply.

Well, there are some exceptions to double-posting. But only double-post if you really have to, you should use the edit button more. Like mods can update and double-post in pinned topics thats alright. Triple posting is a bit to much don't you think? And again, most people just find double/triple posting annoying so don't do it that often. I guess it's just against the rules to make the forums look more "orderly."
And you can apply for a mod whenever you feel ready, but I don't think there are that many spots available right now...

OMG this topic should either be close or all the double and triple posting should be deleted.The only real exception to double and triple posting is if your on topic, and/ or you have to bump a topic to say something important. The other way is if you are quoting someone then you are allowed to douple post, and quote two people. The applications for mod in most forums are full. Try a forum that has no members and right below where it says moderators, it should say apply for mod. There really isn't a good mod spot open right now. If I find any I will tell you.
