An avatar is a picture that is posed next to your posts that represent you.
Newbies on this site usually cannot use and avy for the first day or week or so. It is a bug. The administrator is fixing that.
The word "avy" is short for "avatar".
PICKING AND CHECKING PICTURE TYPE
First, you want to start by picking a picture, whether it is on the internet or uploaded to your computer. Make sure you like it. The only pictures that are allowed on this site up to date are png and jpg. Jpg files are sometimes also known as JPEG. To check the type of file a picture is, right-click on it and click on "Properties". It should show a little window with the file type and other tidbits of info on the pic. if it says that the picture is a jpg (JPEG) or png, then you should be able to use it. It seems that you cannot use other people's avatars by clicking and saving them: You usually must find the site that the avatar was found before being able to use them. Pictures in motion cannot be used on this site. When you have found your avatar, right-click it and save it. Your avatar must also be smaller than 7KB. Note this.
RESIZING AND UPLOADING YOUR AVATAR
Now that you have picked your avy, it's time to open it and resize it. It must be at the max 100x100 pixels. It can be smaller, but no larger than 100 both by width and height. When you have opened the picture up, if it needs resizing, then go to the bar at the top of the screen and click on each of the options until one of them says "Resize" on the dropdown window. Click on Resize. Then, click up or down to modify the size of the pic. Once you are done, save the picture again. Now, go to the Message Boards here, and while logged on, click on "Profile" next to "Logged in as ..." and scroll down from there. Click "Browse" near the bottom of the screen, and select your saved picture. Click OK after that. Then, click "Upload" next to the "Browse" button. If done correctly, your pic should be loaded and it should work! For some people, however, this may not work, possibly because of the server they use, but most commonly, there is some bug in the system, so don't fret if this does not work.
I would like it if someone would tell me which option you must chose at the top of the screen when the pic is open that leads to the "Resize" option.
If I missed anything, let me know. If you still could not make an avy, ask the Administrator here- Team SuperCheats, also known as Rich.

I speak out of experiance when I say that the topics concerning avatars will remain. Perhaps slightly diminished, but it'll continue.
Is Dr Pepper really a doctor? I'm not sure he's qualified to be a soft drink.

I think this should be posted on General Chat. Because the first place n00bs usually go to is the main forum like General Chat and they don't really care about suggestions and problems they just wanna chat and then they'll probly ask for an avatar anyways, that's one thingi dislike about n00bs, not saying ALL noobs arel ike this though...
