How do you get a female Chao? I've got one, but how do you make sure?

Chaos don't have genders. So any Chao can mate with any other Chao, as long as they have both evolved once. Chaos can only mate when their fertility is high - this occurs when a Chao sits down and flowers appear around it. If another Chao is doing this - place them beside each other to have them mate, you can also give a Chao a Heart Fruit from the Black Market to give them high fertility. When Chaos mate - they form an Egg containing a new Chao - this new Chao will have a mix of the Parent Chaos colours and statistic grades.

No, it won't change color, only the normal chao that you get from the "blue spotted white egg" (which you get automatically when you enter the chao gardens for the first time, and sometimes the chao that was made by other chao mating too) will change color. I have 8 different colored devil chaos chao (one is shiny white) and none of them changed color when i used shadow to make them, and i have 7 different colored angel chaos chao (one is black) and none of them changed color either! So yeah, go for it GJS, it does look pretty sweet!!!
