Gohan got his Mystic Saiyan form while training on the planet of the Kai's in the Buu Saga. Remember when Old Kai kept running around him saying all kinds of jibberish? It was actually an old spell used to unleash the heart of a champion, in his words, "Turn a kitten into a lion". After Gohan's power was unlocked, he became a Mystic Saiyan, with power almost equal to that of a Super Saiyan 3, if not more.

But how? I mean when Goku was SS3 he came so close to defeating him, but when Gohan came he didn't even do that and didn't transform to Super Saiyan.

1. Gohan's anger clouded his mind and it resulted in him not being able to kill Buu .
2. It's not mystic saiyin gohan it's just mystic gohan . humans can have the same form .
3. Buu was just playing around when he faught Goku . He didn't come close to winning at all .
4. the transformation to mystic form wasn't complete so gohan didn't have enough power .

he's more powerful then the average SS3 , but in the Cell games saga when he turned SS2 and in movie 9 = Bojack Unbound when he did , I like to think of him as the most powerful Z fighter ( even if he isn't ) mening stronger then mystic form . As we disgussed earlier in this topic Gohan had the blue lightning at SS2 when that is a characteristic of an SS3 , so he must have been very powerful .

But Vegeta, Majin Vegeta, and SS2 Goku have the lightning in their forms of SS2.

yeah but the lightning wasn't blue was it ? Majin Vageta = red/yellow SS2 Goku = yellow ( he has blue when he kills kid buu though ... hmmmmmm ) and so I go to a different topic and leave you here ... until next week that is ... or tommarrow ... or in one hour ...

Maybe it depended on tehir emotion or something. I mean Majin Vegeta had his rage or something or it was that he was under the control of Babidi. Goku: to me he was always powerful without the lightning. Gohan: I think he had it cause he was so powerful at such a young age.

Yeah, with Gohan, it was the mix of deep love for his father and his friends, and the hatred of Cell, making a cool electric blue color.
For Majin Vegeta, it was a burning orange, coming from the pure rage and hatred he was feeling towards Goku.
