Sometimes it took a while to beat him though, it was annoying if he managed to knock you out and then took you the whole way back to Granin's lab.

Yeah that happened to me twice.
Yeah that's the easiest way to beat him but it is one less boss to fight if you do that.

It happened to me once, and it will never happen again. I will go all the way back to fight the end.
Yeah, but if you have already fought him, and got his camouflage, then it is a nice break, to just quickly kill 20 soldiers, opposed to 20 minutes fighting the end.
