I was looking at my limewire yesterday, and it said that limewire can even hold huge files, even ones as big as a terabyte.

My question is what is a terabyte, and how big is it compared to a gigabyte?

If you custom build a PC you may be even able to get one with a Terabyte. It'd cost you a bomb, though.

^Not really. My Dad received an advert through the post recently from Dell offering him a computer with a TB hard drive for about £600, which isn't really that bad.

I made a mistake, sorry Whippy. 1TB it was. http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/features.aspx/desktops_creative?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

Shadow cast - My Dad gets business promotions, and it was excluding VAT. For you it'd be more, probably =P

Why is it that people keep on saying it's 1000? It's clearly 1024.
The only exception being the conversion of bits to bytes. There are 8 bits in a byte and this is true: half a byte in computing is genuinely known as a nibble. So if you had a black and white graphic with resolution of 4 bits (i.e. 2x2 pixels) it would take up a nibble on your backing storage.
