I can't tell you the ending yet but I will get back to it.
2) Because the storyline is too short so they are trying to make gameplay longer for 100%.

The ending is somthing about the writing on the walls when you get eagle vision for desmond,
The writing gives a whole lot of hints about the sequel.
Such as mentioning Yona Guni, it might be the setting for assassins creed 2
Fight the power, man, all who disagree must be eliminated.........
