I think Kevin Crossley-Holland is a very good author. Wrote The Arthur Trilogy.

yeah i was hooked on the lost years of merlin in the 6th grade, we had to pick a book of the cart i just reached in and grabbed one and thats what i got, loved it. i couldn't stop reading it, was near end of the school year so i had to get the librarian to let me take the second book and third book so i can read it over summer and return them next year, she did. heard a movie is being made about them.

but i guess i like Jonathan Stroud for the Bartimaeus Trilogy as well
