From what I've seen I think it was 'The Rock' if you include entertaining fans as well as wrestling but for pure wrestling I think it was Ken Shamrock who was the real deal as he was also a world champion cage fighter where nothing was pretend.

Anybody ever see the Royce Gracie? Gracie became well-known in the mid 1990s with a string of submission victories over larger opponents in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Between 1993 and 1994, he won 11 matches by submission and was the tournament winner of UFC 1, UFC 2, UFC 4, and fought to a draw with Ken Shamrock in the superfight at UFC 5.

^Nope, kinda before my time. (I was only two then xD)

Well, it all depends on what you're looking for. For pure crowd excitement, Hulk Hogan would be the best. For traditional Wrestling, it'd have to be one of those Japanese Wrestlers...i don't watch much Japanese wrestling, but some of the matches were very technically sound, and the bumps they took were alot more dangerous then anything you see in WWE or TNA.

Outside of Japan, i'd have to give the niche to Kurt Angle over Ken Shamrock. I find him to be more "entertaining" whilst keeping with a sound mat game than Shamrock. William Regal, and his best student, Bryan Danielson, are also great wrestlers, but WWE never lets Regal show just how good he really is...shame that.

Stone Cold? Very Charismatic, and was a decent wrestler. Yet, i found his offense focussed way too much on Punching (like the Rock) more than actual wrestling.

If you watch some of his earlier matches (moreso in WCW) you'll see how well he can wrestle.

HBK is a great wrestler, but i wouldn't call him the best. he has good technical ability, and can get a crowd behind him, but there are better wrestlers out there.

I personal think The Rock as far as the crowd goes. I used the love watching the rock. He was always entertaining. I also like shawn michaels. I don't really know why, maybe just off of pure heart. But as far as wrestling goes I think it would be kurt angle. He won olympic gold in real wrestling.

Thanx to FenixPhoenix for making me a great avy and sig!! Smile

Entertaining i would have to give to stone cold since people today still say "what?" after someones sentence with stone cold did when he was with ECW for the short time when it was ECW vs. WWE and (this really doesn't mean much) stone cold sometimes make appearances on WWE while the rock hasn't been on in a long while.
Meh.

Everyone here is going for the 'big' stars of WWE, most a lot of the time its the mid carders who are better. Yeah, a lotta them where good wrestlers and athletes, but more-so, they were actors. They were better at pumping the crowd than they were wrestling.

Perfect example is Hulk Hogan. He was used because he was loved, he was infact not so good a wrestler. He was an actor.

Also, wrestling is entertainment, its predetermined.

Thats why UFC > Wrestling IMO

Have you ever heard of Bryan Danielson who i mentioned in my post? Well, if your wrestling viewing is limited to WWE/TNA, then you wouldn't have. (Well, he did work some matches in WWE, but in those matches he jobbed to John Cena, plus i think he worked underneath a different name, so you wouldn't have known it was him anyway).

Kurt Angle, if he wanted to, could work in UFC if he ever becomes sour with the wrestling business, as he is an actual wrestler, and not just an entertainer.

UFC bores me at times, especially when someone is raining punches on an opponent who is covering up...

I can't argue with the choice of Kurt Angle, he's got the Olympic Gold medal to prove he's a great wrestler.

Stone Cold was a good wrestler and entertainer, don't think he's quite on the level of Kurt Angle or Ken Shamrock on pure wrestling ability though.

That's not taking anything away from Stone Cold Steve Austin, I still think he was a great wrestler. The most overated wrestler without a doubt was Hulk Hogan, he was more showman than wrestler and only had a handful of moves.

You can count the amount of moves Hulk Hogan used on one hand (not counting standard moves...Eg: Punches, Kicks, Clotheslines etc.)
