Roleplay: The Game

The girl snorted. "Insane? What a weak mind you have. This is all very real, I'm sure of that. Besides, everyone knows that the more insane you think you are, the more sane you are. Insane people think they're sane, and sane people think they're insane." She smiled.

?? I think you?re insane,? the young man said after a short pause, his eyebrow arched. However, he couldn?t help but grin at her reasoning. ?But it seems like a fun sort of insanity, I suppose.?

"I suppose it is." She chuckled. "While we're here, I might as well introduce myself. My name is Fan."

?You can call me Sprite,? the man said, approaching Fan and extending his hand to shake hers. ?I?d like to tell you that it?s nice to meet you, but to be honest, I?m not sure how ?nice? this situation is.?

"I don't shake hands. Sorry." Fan replied. "Well, I'm sure that on the outside chance that we're not all crazy, we didn't end up here for nothing. Since the whole population is made up of statues, I'm sure we won't be getting any answers without snooping around."

Sprite shrugged, tucking his hands into his pockets in slight confusion at Fan?s reaction to a handshake. But he realized there were more pressing matters at hand.
?You?re probably right,? he acquiesced. ?Hard to get any information out of someone too lazy to blink.?
At that moment, while Sprite?s attention was away from the front counter, the clerk began to move behind him. With startling quickness ? especially for an immobile person ? the man picked up a particularly large volume from his personal bookshelf and hurled it across the room, where it hit Sprite in the back of the neck and dropped to the ground with a thud.
?Ouch,? he cried, spinning around instantly to face the counter.
But by the time he did, the clerk had reverted to his former position and stopped moving again. He glanced at the ground next to him and saw the book which had hit him, then fixated his attention on the statuesque clerk.
?What the hell just happened?? he breathed, massaging his freshly sore neck.

"You mean that guy moving, that guy throwing that book at you, or the book hitting you in the neck?" Fan chuckled as she scooped the book off the floor. She opened the book. "Quite a read here." She said, offering the book to Sprite. "If this isn't a sign, I don't know what is."

Sprite took the book and examined the cover. It featured a detailed illustration of a burning man being struck by lightning from a seemingly cloudless sky. Watermarked over this illustration was the title of the book:



As he studied the cover, Sprite?s confusion only doubled, and he glanced at Fan for clarification. ?A sign of what, exactly??

"Isn't it obvious? What kind of being would have the power to bring people to a realm of this sorts? The power to create such a place, and control it with such accuracy? This is only a guess on my part, but read over the title again and think of what I just said, because I can only think of one kind of being that fits that description." Fan said.

Sprite turned his gaze back on the book. He had never placed much stock in any religion, and had never been convinced that there was any such thing as a higher power, but he had to admit, Fan?s reasoning made sense. Besides, this was a new one for him; he was walking on uncharted ground. Presently, he was willing to entertain any explanation.
?Fair enough. I suppose that answers the how?? he said, though his voice lacked any real conviction. ?Doesn?t explain why we?re here, though.?

"Open the book, maybe there's something inside that will explain." Fan suggested.

Another figure, unseen behind a shelf, came to life. She looked around and sighed. I've been through stranger thing, she thought. It was only then when she noticed the other two at the other side of the room. She stepped out. "Any idea where we are?" she asked. "Not many people seem to be moving."

A figure dressed in black walked into the book store, a crop of messy blacky grey hair on his head, a giant burn mark covering the right side of his face, which had a confused look on it. He looked at the motionless clerk, his confusion growing, then spotting the group of four and the other motionless 'people'. Noticing the group were the only breathing beings in the store, he walked over, the only option he seemed to have. "Hello," The man said, a little embarrassed, "Would you mind telling where I am?"

In a dark alley somewhere on the home planet of Canaan, there he sits completely covered up in a tattered up robe. The noise from the traffic in the background begins to fade away, all the people in front of him seem to stop moving, and the ground beneath him seems to disappear and fill in with white. "What-" he can't continue something is holding him from moving, even thinking. But not too soon the surrounding white turns into a bookstore; the motionless people sit down and he is able to resume. "-is going on?" He appears behind a group of people just in time to hear them ask the same thing he was going to. His face covered in shadow, only the slight glow from his eyes can be seen. "Please, tell us."

A white orb sppeared in a corner, it grew rapidly as the light shined brigher, blinding the observers for a slight moment. As soon as the light burned out, a man appeared at its place, seeming confused. He looked around, seeing several mobile and immobile persons. He took a step forward, staggering. "Man, I should get used to this gravity" He muttered to himself as he took another step, seeming to get used to gravity. He looked up and saw others talking to eachothers. He cleared his throat and spoke aloud "Escuse me, gentlemen and ladies. Would any of you tell me where am I?".

Okhan let out a grunt, "Oh lord... and just a minute ago you couldn't find somebody to talk too. Whoever's behind this little stunt is obviously getting impatient and bored. Hell, unfreezing somebody to toss a book at somebodies head probably fits that description too."

Tyla laughed. "Maybe. So any ideas what exactly is happening?" She walked over to Fan. "What's that?" she asked, looking over Fan's shoulder.

'Anyway, I am off to...- Hey! where am I?' Said a girl with long, deep purple hair. She seemed to be standing outside a book shop. She heard voices, holding her staff tightly, she stepped inside the shop, and being sane, left the door open for a quick escape if needed.
'Who, are you people?' she whisperd, looking around at the still people, and the moving people.

Fan noticed that the girl was looking over her shoulder at the book Sprite was holding. "It's a book that beaned that guy in the head, and we're trying to find out if there's anything in it that could help us." She said before pushing the girl's head away from her shoulder.

Tyla sighed. Curse my small height, she thought. Then she noticed the other girl standing at the doorway.
