Whoa. I only ever did that raid once and it seemed pretty complicated.
Ok so from the looks of this either its easy to cheese this now or some of the added equipment / abilities have made this a doddle.

With the Taken King DLC, it made anything that was year 1 easy to obliterate anything including Atheon and Crota's raids.
Did you always cheese the first 2 parts of Crota's Raid?
We'd have a fire team of 6, a titan would go to the second lamp, jump on a rock then proceed to jump the wall. Go to the top and activate the plate. Whilst he is the fire team leader, he would dashboard. The game would glitch and as soon as he would launch the game and come back, the bridge would be completed and you could move without the weight of darkness.
The 2nd part, we'd just hit the plate to bring out the enemies. If we had a warlock they would just use self res at the 1 second mark then revive the team. Kill the knight and someone would swing across.
The other version for hard mode is climb the far right tower and you can jump out of the map and the enemies will de-spawn. Does the same thing as the other version it can be hard to climb that tower, but with all the new additions I got a quad jump on my Hunter so I'd have no issue.
