Maybe since it has three heads but Bael can retreat and use two demons attached to it to attack and you can do much damage to him when he does.

Guess so. But Bael is the first boss, while Cerberus is the seond. They might mean something in power.

Bael is the second boss in DMC4 not counting Dante in the very first mission.

Maybe a reference somehow but there are a lot more bosses in DMC3 than DMC4.

You fight Berial, Bael, Echidna, and Agnus 3 times and there is also Dante you fight him twice, Credo, Sanctus twice and the saviour.

It's annoying when he saps your health though. I love it when he throws the fire hounds, then you just use the devil bringer on them and use them as a bazooka to hit him.

Yeah it you see him doing that just attack him to stop the attack or time a dodge. Sometimes they can be annoying when your concentrating on attacking him and then they attack.
