You can also get Death Ball by finishing Freeza's Mentorship training, but to get that you have to fully complete Captain Ginyu's Mentorship, so it's probably even more time-consuming than grinding that one Parallel Quest...

It's probably more worth it to finish Frieza's training because of the Z assist. Judging from the damage difference with Final Flash with and without Vegeta as a master, it pretty well doubles the strength.

You can get death ball by hoping to get a chance to get lucky. You have to finish frieza with an ultimate when he's at full power. You can't get it by doing mentor missions.
