Note: It varies on the router type, and I cannot be held responsible if your Router screws up.

Okay first off if you know your PPoE username and password you can skip this part.

Type http://192.168.1.254/ into your web address. This should take you to your router.
Go into configure/option (You may need to enter "Expert mode" to get to this option)
Go into "Connection"
There may be a list of various things.
One of these might be the PPoE username and password. Username is an email address.
Take these down/edit if neccessary.
Check your Uppn
Restart router

Next step:
Go to your PS3 Network options
Select internet settings.
Choose custom.
Enter SSID and privacy things.
When it comes to IP, select "PPoE"
Put in your Username and password, then select auto for all others, with Proxy off and UPPN as it is on your server
Sign in, and check your settings.
Check your NAT type
If it is 1, then well done!
Internet fixed

As a general rule; how safe is it to do this lol.

Atm, I'm downloading a System Update for the PS3 on my new ADSL broadband connection & it's taking ages, but the internet connection on my laptop is pretty fast, so I'm thinking perhaps the settings for the PS3 are up the sh!t or something..

So I'm considering doing what you've mentioned but I don't wanna stuff up anything lol

If you do what the guide says, it should be completely safe.
Also, if you have another firewall on the PC, lower the firewall setting on your Router.
The other firewall will take care of any viruses, while the low setting on your router will allow more people in.

Check what NAT type it is before, okay?
If it's 1, then it's fine.
This only applies for wireless BTW.

If you have any problems, tell me.

Yeah, I'm running wireless. But atm, I can't sign into the PSN without downloading a System Update (the one that allows us to upload videos etc) but everytime I get to around 50 percent (& that takes ages for some reason) it says it's lost connection to the server -.-

I've spend a fair few hours trying & retrying to get this Sys Update downloaded so I can actually sign into the PSN & no luck. I may have to cheat & take my PS3 to my mates place & download it there, since he has a faster satellite connection -.-

Also, going to the router page there is no PPPoE username & password thingy haha. That might be because when I set it up today, the provide was having problems so I couldn't register an email & password with them. so eh -.- lol

You can't check it from CoD.
Check it from the network settings.

Than you have NAT Type 1 so you have the best internet you can get, until you either upgrade your speed plan or they upgrade the lines in your area. :p

Open is always NAT Type 1, Moderate is Type 2 and Strict is Type 3. So if he has Open he has Type 1. :p

I'm on pretty much the fastest plan the lines in my area can cope with. We can't afford satellite so that's out of the question lol. Have to wait till this time next year for upgraded lines -.-

seriosuly? ok wow, maybe I should be a bit more thankful. Wireless I get 50 to 60 Mb/s and with the ethernet cable its between 70 and 100 Mb/s, average of around 75Mb/s if there's a lot of traffic..

I know this doesn't have a lot to do with the original topic, but i'd like to take this second to laugh at your pitiful connections. *laughs* mkay

So yeah, I run 270MB/S wireless, and 1GB (1,000MB/S) with my ethernet, which is what my Xbox runs on. Comcast Cable, utter win.

Btw, the more universal address to reach the router config page is 192.168.1.1

And its not "UPPN" its "UPNP" - universal plug n' play

Holy F**k...

Do you mean megabit or megabyte? Either way you have super fast internetz...

Also, sphynxx, if things are taking so long to download, you might want to get a new router because your current one can't handle the speed or it has a slow processor. Either way, that's more than likely you're problem.

It's just the router I got from the provider lol. Was a cheap one. I can't really afford a more expensive one so it'll have to do.

Well, I'm sure they would have warned you if it couldn't handle the speed, or not. But it's probably got bad processing...

I just checked the World Records, and the best internet is 40GB/S.
They can download a full DVD in 2 seconds.
