when yousend your pokemon from say emerald will they still be in pokemon emerald or will they vanish from there?

This isn't the actual answer but i think once you transfer its in d/p and will be gone from the previous game,and you can't trade back im guessing unless you generation trade,not 100% sure but this is my guess

However, I will give you an answer. When you transfer from a prvious game, the Pok�mon vanish from said game, never to return again.
