To do Doh, you need to remove the spaces between your colons and the word "doh".

(didn't realize I wrote so much, skip to the summary, if you don't get it, ask again...)

First off, every aspect of a pokemon are determined by sets of numbers we commonly refer to as Dynamic Value (DV's).

Anything you can influence within a pokemon falls under this category.

There are obvious Dynamic Values that are in plain sight of the status window, such as EXP and STATS. Then there are values that aren't so obvious, hidden elsewhere that cannot be checked, these are the Hidden Values.

The Hidden Values are sets of numbers that help determine a pokemon's individuality; it's what makes each wild pokemon unique from the next you encounter.

Individual Values (IV's): These things help determine the maximum number of stat points a pokemon may have in one particular stat. It has a range of 0 to 31, 31 being the highest. Pokemon caught in the wild seldom have very good IVs (in fact, they often have half of the maximum in most stats on average). IVs increase over generations of breeding, and it is possible to chain breed pokemon to obtain one with perfect IVs (31 in every single stat). As a side note, the IVs of a pokemon also determines the type and base power of the move "hidden power".

Effort Values (EVs): These are what makes hand trained pokemon stronger than pokemon which are brought up using EXP.Share or rare candies. Each pokemon you battle gives you a specific amount )1 to 3) of EVs in certain stats if you deal the finishing blow. (for example, Mew gives you 3 HP EVs, Crobat gives you 3 speed EVs, etc) 4 EVs in a particular stat adds up to 1 stat point to be added when you next level up. A pokemon can have up to 510 EVs in total, and each stat cannot exceed 255 EVs. (Basically, you can EV train a pokemon to have an extra 63 stat points in a particular stat by battling pokemon that gives that specific EVs: for example, if you battled and fainted 4 crobats, that will give you a total of 4 x 3 speed EVs, resulting in 12 EVs, and since 4 EVs make up 1 stat, that means you'll get a bonus 3 Speed stat in the future while you're leveling)

Summary:

- A pokemon has 6 different IVs, one for each stat (HP/ATK/DEF/SP.ATK/SP.DEF/SPD)
- IVs determine the maximum amount of stat points of each stat; the higher it is, the higher your maximum stat
- IVs are predetermined once you receive your pokemon (i.e. catch/hatch) the only way to manipulate it is to cross breed and have stronger offspring with higher IVs
- A pokemon can have up to 510 EVs in total
- A pokemon can have up to 255 EVs in one stat
- 4 EVs adds up to 1 stat
- Each species of pokemon you battle gives you a set amount (1 to 3) of a particular type of EVs (one of the 6 stats)
- The same species of pokemon will always give you the same amount and type of EVs no matter their level (Crobat would always give 3 speed evs when you faint it)

How can you EV train while giving a pokemon rare candy? Rare candys raise your pokemon's level by one with a random # of EVs(I think), Ev training is completly diffrent. When you EV train, your trying to raise the strength of a certain stat for a pokemon by battling certain pokemon. I no expert at EV training, I think Fwank knows more about it than me.

Erm, well, it can, I have no idea how you reached the conclusion that it can't work together.

Also, to correct myself; you can still get EVs once you're level 100; simply place the pokemon in the PC box and withdraw it again, and it'll get the EVs it received after level 100 (if it can actually get any)

Rare Candies and EVs don't work last time I checked. It's wierd, but that's what's been said... I believe it has something to do with Battling Activation, or something.

Maybe you should read it over; all stats have IV's.

No, IVs can't be maxed unless you're an expert breeder. Once the pokemo hatches, the IVs never change.

Someone should really write something about prediction... Since it is basically one of the three things that battling needs... Namely:

- Balanced team
- Prediction
- 1337 h4x0rz 5ki11z (just basic luck)
