I think for marketing purposes (if it's "advanced" people will buy it) and that it was released to Gameboy Advance.

yeah its true but they cant keep on calling everything sonic1 sonic2 they have to change the title every now and then

I cant believe you actualy dont this( not being offensive) but it was named all of the games were named sonic advance because they were released on the Gameboy Advance
