No, it's totally possible. If you bump into too many boos, or keep jumping from high places, or mabye you drown yourself. I've done it myself. Damage counts the same both inside and outside of the castle.

Just really stupid stuff. I was collecting coins in the fortress level. I made it up to 156 I think it was. I did a triple jump and off the edge I go. Were the edge came from I do not know.

ok i had 10 lifes then i messed up really bad so i restared ok, then when i started it i went down to 4 lifes!

I remember working my way up to 50 lives, then saving and turning the system off, then returning to it later to find I had started out with 4 lives. Hehe, I hadn't known that when you turn off the system you automatically start off with 4 lives again when you start the game again.

I wish it would not do that. I had close to 100. It was hard. I decide to get one houndered coins in each level. Every 50 coins gives you one life. In the level with the huge guy that tries to smash you I did a triple jump and ended up off the cliff. That mad me mad.
