i can't get into the general store in kakariko village. help!

Title says it all. For whatever idiot reason i can't get into the general store/malo mart in kakariko village. i've been watching these video walkthroughs on youtube. zeldadungeon.com is the channel. but when i got there it was night so i left & when i came back it was day & the door is still locked. google is no help for some reason. and the one thing that might have been some help said to talk to gor something & there's no one outside the general store! so i don't know what to do. i'm NOT gonna start completely over & the previous save point would be back before i chased down the head moglin & fought him & rescued colin. so can anyone help me? i need the hylian shield for the goron mines. thanks!
