first you need university i believe. then you go to the chess piece in buy mode and then under creativity there are guitars
My ipod is awesome i listen to it it has green day panic! at the disco fall out boy simple plan and other kool stuff.

You can also sort-of start a band. Click on a drum kit, bass, piano or guitar and select 'Perform' the click on another sim and select 'ask to join' and you will all play music together.
