How do you remove the dearly departed off the family info screen?

I created an elderly sim using the tombstone of l&d. I changed my mind and wanted to get rid of him. I had him die of old age. He's out of the house and all, but his picture and description still shows up on the family info screen (the one that pops up when you click to enter the house in the neighborhood view). Is there a way to get his picture off of the family info screen? Moving the house to the Lots & Houses bin didn't do it, nor did it bring him back so I could find another way to get rid of him. Perhaps I just should have had him move out? Anyone have any suggestions or advice?
