you know one of the first missions where you are helping some guy i think his name is Johny escape? well i get to the part were you have to esape with the chopper on the roof top.
i get like 10 guys come down and try to kill me yet all i have is a my hands and i might kill 2-3 and i get gang shot and die.
any suggestions?

That's weird, I've never seen that before, I never get anyone after me and the chopper dissapeares after a while too, you have to climb through the hole in the wall. I dunno if i'm talking about the part you mean. You're talking about the ps2 version right?
