Introduction

I decided to start this topic so I can add general information and guides concerning World of Warcraft. I will add things as I write them on specific areas of the game, for example instances, class tips, guild information and PvP guides. People who cannot open this topic, please do not post because if it is open that will probably mean I am editing it.

Other moderators are welcome to add any further information they please which is relevant to the topic.

Glossary of Terms

Grind - The act of grinding is where you kill a group of monsters constantly for either experience, a certain item or reputation with certain factions.

Spec – How you are specced is the talent line you take. For example if you are a warrior and you have spent most of your points in the Protection tree, you say you are “Protection specced”. Explaining how you are specced in instances will determine whether you get the spot or not.

Talents – At level 10, you will get a talent point in which you can spend points in making your character what you want it to be. Decide how you want to play your class and spend all your points in one tree until you get to the end of it. Certain talent lines will improve performance in a certain aspect of the game, such as PvP and Instance grouping.

Levelling Guide (Alliance) – Levels 1 to 10

Green = Monsters
Red = NPC/Questgivers
Blue = Items
Purple = Quests
Brown = Places

Teldrassil
Starting Race(s):
Night Elf

You start your adventure at the town of Aldrassil, Shadowglen. Before you start killing things, get the quest The Balance of Nature from Conservator Ilthalaine, who is right in front of you. He instructs you to kill 7 Young Nightsabers and 4 Young Thistle Boars. This will most probably get you to Level 2.

Hand in The Balance of Nature, choose a reward and get the follow up quest. This sends you off to kill 7 of both Mangy Nightsabers and Thistle Boars. Leave this one for now and accept a quest to hand in a Sigil to your class trainer. Sell your items you have gotten from fighting and seek out your class trainer. Hand in your Sigil and update your training by buying the level 2 ability. Walk around until you find Melithar Staghelm outside the Aldrassil building and accept the quest The Woodland Protector. The quest instructs you to find the dryad known as Tarindrella She is located in the south-west of Shadowglen, near where you first started off. Once you find her, hand in The Woodland Protector and accept her quest, to gain 8 Fell Moss from the Grell that live nearby.

The Mangy Nightsabers and Thistle Boars are located at the northern part of Shadowglen. Complete both The Balance of Nature and The Woodland Protector and hand them in. This will get you to Level 3. Choose the rewards that are most useful for your class and sell your items to the nearest vendor.

Your quest log will be empty, so seek out Gilshalan Windwalker. Obtain the quest Webwood Venom and move towards the Aldrassil building, where Dirania Silvershine will be stood. She will give you the quest A Good Friend. Go and find Iverron near the spider cave and kill some Webwood Spiders until you get a few Webwood Venom Sacs. You don’t have to get all of them, as you will be back here shortly. Just clear the spiders outside the cave and continue walking until you find Iverron at the east of the cave.

Hand in the quest A Good Friend and accept his quest to return to Dirania Silvershine. Accept the follow-up quest Iverron’s Antidote and return to the cave where you were before. Get 1 Webwood Ichor and complete the Webwood Venom Sacs quest. Gather 4 Moonpetal Lilies while on your way to Gilshalan Windwalker. Hand in Webwood Venom, choose the weapon that your class can use and accept the follow-up quest Webwood Egg. Go to Aldrassil, sell the items in your bag, and purchase more training if you’ve reached Level 4.

Go back to the Grell and gather 7 Hyacinth Mushrooms which can be looted from the Grell or gathered from trees near the camps. Once finished, sell extra items if you feel it is necessary, return to Dirania Silvershine and grab the final quest, which will put you on a timer. Move quickly towards Iverron, killing spiders that attack you. Hand in the quest, and choose a reward.

Move towards the cave that contains Webwood Spiders, killing all of them that would attack you if you tried to enter. After all the entrance spiders are killed, enter the cave. The Webwood Egg you are looking for is guarded by Githyiss the Vile at the end of the cave. The cave is quite small so it won’t be hard to find him. Once Githyiss the Vile is slain, you should be able to grab a webwood egg and Hearthstone out of the cave.

Hand in the Webwood Egg to Gilshalan Windwalker, choose a reward, accept the next quest and start ascending the tree that is behind him. Once you get to the top, Tenaron asks that you fill a Phial with the moonwell waters in Crown of the Earth. This is an easy quest, which requires no fighting but it takes a while to get to the bottom of the tree. So jump off onto the roof of the Aldrassil building and get to the ground that way. Fill up the Phial, ascend the tree again and hand in Crown of the Earth. He then sends you on a quest to go to Dolanaar, which is the next town.

Before setting off to Dolanaar, make sure these things are complete:
-You have gained Level 6
-You have trained in your class and there is nothing else the trainer can teach you.
-You have sold all your items

You can also buy some armor with the left over silver you have from the Armor Vendors. Once you think you have completed these things, move south to the gates of Shadowglen, accept the quest Dolanaar Delivery and continue on to Dolanaar.

While moving through Teldrassil towards Dolanaar, you can kill creatures near the road if you want, also pick up the quest Zenn’s Bidding from Zenn Foulhoof near a tree on the left side of the road. Continue following the road until you reach Dolanaar, where you can hand in the quests Crown of the Earth and Dolanaar Delivery. Sell all the items you got from the monsters you killed on the way, and pick up the following quests:
A Troubling Breeze
Emerald Dreamcatcher
Twisted Hatred
Crown of the Earth
Denalan’s Earth

IMPORTANT - Set your Hearthstone to Dolanaar

Go south of Dolanaar, until you reach Lake Al'Ameth. Find Denalan, near the edge of the lake, south-east of Dolanaar. Hand in Denalan's Earth and pick up the questsTimberling Seeds and Timberling Sprouts. The Timberling Seeds drop off the Timberlings and the Timberling Sprouts can be found on the small plants scattered around. Complete these two quests, then hand them in. Accept the next quest, Rellian Greenspyre and return to Dolanaar.

Sell all the items you don't need, repair your armor and set out east. Kill these monsters:
Nightsaber
Strigid Owl
Webwood Spiders

Kill them until you have completed Zenn's Bidding and you hit Level 7. Hand the quest in and return to Dolanaar, sell all the items you got and head towards Starbreeze Village. Complete the quests:
Crown of the Earth
Emerald Dreamcatcher
A Troubling Breeze

Gaerolas Talvethren is located in the right building as you enter the furbolg village, on the top floor. When you find him pick up the quest Gnarlpine Corruption. The Emerald Dreamcatcher is located in a small cupboard in a house further into the village. Once you have completed all the quests, return to Dolanaar, hand in the quests and get these follow-ups:
Ferocitas the Dream Eater
The Relics of Wakening
Crown of the Earth

If you go inside the Inn, you will find a new quest called Seek Redemption!. This requires you to obtain 3 Fel Cones which can be found under trees around Teldrassil. Check the trees near Zenn Foulhoof and complete the quest. If you are not yet Level 8 grind nearby monsters until you reach it.

Go back to Dolanaar, sell unwanted items and repair your armor. Buy new abilities from your class trainer and get the quest The Road to Darnassus from Moon Priestess Amara. She will be riding her mount somewhere on the west road from Dolanaar.

Now that you are level 8, you can now do quests you weren't able to do earlier on. Twisted Hatred is one of these, and it asks you to get Melenas' Head. Now this quest is hard, so it may be a good idea to get a small group together. If you don't like the idea of grouping, you can attempt to solo this. Make your way towards Fel Rock just north of Dolanaar. Lord Melenas is a Level 8 Demon. Although he matches your level, he may have minions surrounding him. He spawns near the small lake or on a really high ledge in the middle of the cave. Don't worry if you can't take him down, the trip won't be wasted. The sprites in the cave drop Linen Cloth and can be used in 2 proffesions (Tailoring and First Aid). Consequent to that, it usually sells for 50 Silver on the Auction House, so even if you cannot use it you can still make a huge profit. If you managed to get the head, return to Dolanaar, hand in the quest and choose a reward. Sell your unwanted items and repair your armor.

Needed Items:
Timberling Seed
Tourmaline Phial
20+ Linen Cloth

Time to get your running shoes on. After your bags are empty of vendor trash, make your way west to the Night Elf city of Darnassus. While moving, kill 6 Gnarlpine Ambushers to complete The Road to Darnassus. These monsters also drop Linen Cloth so make sure you have at least a stack of 20 before arriving at Darnassus.

Firstly, hand in the Timberling Seed to Rellian Greenspyre. Accept the next quest, Tumors. This would be a good time to learn a proffesion, if you haven't yet done so. Go find a Darnassus Sentinel and they will locate you to the one that you desire.

Time to get used to the Auction House. This is where the Linen Cloth comes in. Find the Auction House, by running around or getting directions from a Darnassus Sentinel. Once there, you interact with an auctioneer the same way you interact with any other NPC. To put something on auction, go down to the "Auction" option at the bottom and drag the Linen Cloth into the item slot. Look at the current auctions for the item you have put on for a guide on the price. For Linen Cloth I would recommend putting it on like this:
Bid Price: 30 Silver
Buyout Price: 50 Silver
24 Hours

After you have done in Darnassus, exit and start making your way north, to do Crown of the Earth. Fight monsters on the way until you reach the moonwell you need for the quest. After you have completed, hearth to Dolanaar, sell your items, repair your items, hand in Crown of the Earth and accept the next quest.

INSTANCE GUIDE

Instances – Druid

Before you even go into the instance, you must find out what role you play in the group, as the Druid is a hybrid class. The Druid can play as a tank, a damage dealer, a caster and a healer. You must know how you are specced so you know what role you play in the group. It goes like this:

Balance: Caster
Feral Combat: Tank, Damage Dealer
Restoration: Healer

If you are a player that is interested in instances, I would recommend going for the Restoration talent line, as the healer is very hard to find in groups. I will give a guide on how to play the druid in instances, no matter how you are specced.

RESTORATION
Your role in the group is plain and simple; healing. Now you may think the Priest is a better healer, but the Druid can match the Priest in terms of healing if you take this talent line. The healing is slightly different, the druid does more Healing over Time (HoT), than the healing per second a Priest does. Moves like Rejuvenation and Regrowth both have HoT aspects, and that is how the Druid’s healing works. Yes, they do have instant healing spells such as Healing Touch, but it is nowhere near as effective as the Priest’s healing.

FERAL COMBAT
Being specced in Feral Combat is very useful for filling in missing roles in a group. For example, if the tank needs assistance, you can shapeshift into Bear form to support the tank. And if the group isn’t doing much damage, the Cat form can do extra DPS to take down mobs quicker.

BALANCE
This talent line is quite good, if you have lots of water or a mage to supply you with it. The Balance talent line focuses mainly on casting, therefore no healing or feral boosts are there. In my opinion, the Balance druid will not have as good chance as the Feral or Restoration specced druid when it comes down to instances. If you are really considering instances with your Druid, it would be wise to go with the other two talent lines as Balance is better in soloing conditions and PvP.

-----------------------------------------------

Instances - Warrior

Firstly, when in instances there is two important things you must do in order to tank to the best of your ability, even before entering the instance:

Equip a 1H weapon and a Shield
Make sure you are in the defensive stance

PULLING
It is of a great interest to purchase a ranged weapon, doesn't matter which. You don't need an ammo pouch/quiver for it as you only use 1 piece of ammo per pull. It can be simply put in one of your bag spaces. Before going for a group of mobs, pull the patrols (mobs that move around and could become unwanted adds) After all the patrols are gone, the group must pick a spot in which you can pull the mobs onto until there is one group left in the room. That is when pulling is unneccesary and you can simply walk into a group and tank away! Not worrying about any adds A tank without a ranged weapon is like a bird without wings.

AGGRO
When tanking, Taunt and Sunder Armor are your best friends. It is quite difficult to master the skill of tanking; so practise is required. These are general tips and guidelines I would give:
1. Use your rage points for Sunder Armor, until you have roughly 2 sunders in.
2. Mobs that haven't already aggroed you can be aggroed by the Taunt ability. Just add 2 sunders to it and he should stay aggroed to you for a while.
3. Grab all the mobs using steps 1 and 2 and repeat that until you have the majority (if not all) of the group aggroed to you.
4. You can then go around adding extra sunders and taunting until you think you have sufficient aggro or the mob is almost dead.

IMPORTANT PARTY MEMBERS
It is VERY important to know what party member you will choose to save when either a pull goes wrong or for any other reason you lose aggro. It would be wise to save the Healer rather than a Rogue/Pala as they can hold their own much better than the Healer can. And if the healer goes, it is likely the whole group will go with them. Here is an example for an order of importance from a typical group build:

1. Priest - Basically keeps the group alive.
2. Warlock - A cloth wearer and will restrict the priest's healing towards you.
3. Rogue - Not that good armor but can hold their own better than a cloth wearer.
4. Hunter - Although the hunter does much more damage by ranged, the pet can act as a secondary tank, therefore he can lose aggro to the pet.

Obviously there are different group build but I find this being one of the most common and if the group is different, hopefully you can build your own "list of importance" from it.

A FEW EXTRA TIPS
1. If you have a Paladin in your group, it is much more convenient for the tank if the rest of the party has Blessing of Salvation on them, especially for boss fights. This will reduce aggro given and will be easier for the Warrior to tank.

2. Make sure you grab aggro off the right mobs. For example, you would be much better tanking a strong, enduring mob while the rest of the group takes down the healer.

3. Don't expect to be able to tank 5 mobs at a time (unless you are uber). Crowd Control from mages, rogues and even priests can come in handy for reducing the group from 5 down to 3 or 4.

4. Make sure there is a secondary tank in the group, whether it be a hunters pet, a Paladin or even the druid's bear form. It is reassuring to know that there is an extra "wall" if something goes wrong.

5. If you aren't already a Protection warrior, it would be good to respec if you want to be the best tank you want to be. However this is not necessary until the higher levels so it is ok to do so at level 60.

Good luck tanking all.

Leveling guide

It's not as hard as it seems once you know what your doing actually. Below are some of the things I've used to level.

1-17: Quest, quest quest, do all of the quests in your beggining zones and partial of the next step in your general area. Not only do you get fast levels but great honor gain too. This will make you honored with your home faction and get 10% discounts on all purchases, a great boon indeed. Around 14 horde can start doing Ragefire Chasim too, great grouping for begginers

17-21/22: Instancing. I cannot stress this enough. If you instance and get lucky on these levels you will be stocked with good green and a few blue items. You will be much more able to quest and such aswell with ease. Use the LFG channel to find groups or even the general chat in Westfall or the Barrens. LFG WC (wailing caverns) or LFG VC (Van Cleef/deadmines) will get you into groups quite often.

22-27: Questing in Redridge or the barrens here will get you quite a few levels, they have a few groupable quests, some leet ones, and a bunch of normal ones you will easily complete with your new gear. You may wish to hop between places like barrens/silverpine or /redridge/loch modan.

27-33 A new place can be Thousand needles or duskwood, I've found both to be very Useful. Paladins and Priests get an easy time in Duskwood as it is absolutly full of undead and holy magic > undead.

33-36 Shimmering flats is a great place to level for horde and alliance, it may be neutral and a bit hard to get to for alliance, but it has some great quests for both factions, and the ocassional race between gnomes and goblins is fun to watch. when your finished here you may want to head through the eastern mountains and get the Tanaris Flight path. Leveling here boyond 36 is fine.

34-41- Stranglethorn Vale, it's a battleground without a queue, but it has a plethoria of quests. Start from the northern tip and work your way south from Nessingway's camp. Grouping is advised here since pvp happens quite alot on PVP servers.

41-48 Feralas is a good place that I've seen. many places to solo, and many to group. and if your an alliance or have a way to get to the western isles, you can grind on the piles of Nagas on the beaches and dread isle, and grinding from 43-47 on dread isle my one friend found two epics, so you may make much cash in the process.

Doing any instances that are in your level ranges are perfectably acceptable, they may slow you down, but great equipment and you will solo much easier.
