You should dust off GIMP, I had to, and it wasnt fun, GIMP was dust, I was rusty and I cant go on now because I just noticed that rhymed and I don't want to ruin the magic.
Okay, so I have art class with one of the most annoying teachers I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with this year. She wants people to make pretty things, but she's very strict about it. You know me (and just about every artist), I do things in a roundabout way. Not the usual, but it's a beautiful end result. She doesn't believe people can't follow the guide lines and get something nice. I have to do it her or a tutorials way or no way at all. Two of the most recent incidents..
First - She prints out a GIMP/Photoshop tutorial for lips and tells me to draw it in pencil. Using all the steps in order. Which is impossible to do in pencil because I CANT SMUDGE/HIGHLIGHT THE WAY THE TUTORIAL IS SHOWING-- she took points off my grade for not 'doing it right' even though the result matched it perfectly, I just had to switch the steps..
Second - She was completely convinced the iPads our school has (we'll be doing all our work on iPads next year) will download and run GIMP. After 15 minutes of arguing and telling her why it wont work, I gave up.

So basically, your teacher is a nagging idiot who only appreciates her preferred method of making art instead of the art itself. You'd best just do what you have to do to pass the class and forget about it and her when you get out.

I feel like a completely useless turd. Photoshop CS6 on the biggest gaming laptop Dell offers, and I still can't bring myself to make anything decent.
