I would personally pick almost any Asus over almost any Lenovo.
I've not had a bad experience with any Asus product I've owned. Lenovo is a good brand, but it reminds me too much of IBM - In a very bad way. My brother has a Lenovo - It seems to run well.

The link you posted isn't working for me, though, KoC. Bringing me to a "Couldn't find what you're looking for" page.

Yes, I can see that.
A blank Best Buy page is unhelpful and prevents me from answering your question.

Now Alienware is owned by Dell, so they're just overpriced Dell laptops with decent specs.

Using the two links that Steelers gave, the specs are better on the Lenovo (at a quick glance). And it's cheaper, too. So the Lenovo would probably be a better choice for you.

The one thing I noticed is that the Asus has 2gb dedicated video memory. I didn't see anything for the Lenovo. But if you plan on playing a lot of video games, you may want to try the Asus instead.

The Lenovo one has 4 different models, they all have the GT 755M card which has 2gb dedicated memory, while the Asus has the GT 745M. The Lenonvo one's actually marginally better, and it has the option to add a second card for $100.

Really sounding like a lenovo fanboy here lol, not my intention

You don't sound like a fanboy. If those are the specs, the Lenovo is definitely a better choice than the Asus. And I way prefer an Asus over a Lenovo. But you can't deny the facts.

True. Also, KoC try not to buy from a store like Best Buy, Walmart etc, buy directly from the manufacturer or from Amazon/Newegg. And yeah they cost the same if you add the second card, but my laptop's running a 650M and can run everything I've tried playing (Skyrim with mods, FO3 and new vegas, Bioshock Infinite, etc) between High and Ultra settings with stable, good framerates.

Good advice.

I usually don't buy stuff online. Which one is better for unstable networks?

Like WiFi networks? It shouldn't matter; the Lenovo has some sort of Intel wireless card, I assume the Asus has the same, it doesn't say on the site

I was hoping a newer computer would make the internet more stable.

They would be about the same. Both have Wireless-N cards.

The only time you'll really notice the internet getting more stable is when there's a sudden step-up with wireless connectivity technology. Wireless cards are cheap enough for manufacturers that as computers and laptops are built, they have the best network cards in them right away.
If I'm making sense?

Ok. How would they handle offline games like Civ?

Edit: I'm pretty far from computer whiz if you couldn't tell.
