Upgrading weapons is really a good idea. Upgrading Gladius for Lightning can turn it into Helter-Skelter, which when maxed out gives you +441 attack or so. And then of course, once you get lots of money, you can upgrade it once again (and I mean LOTS of money).

Being short on credits is pretty common if you didn't farm on the Palamecia. Unfortunately, there's not a lot you can do about it. Except maybe sell components.

Question: are the components you gain from defeating opponents necessary for anything, or may I go ahead and sell everything?

They are used for upgrading items. However, most of them are worth nothing when you sell them. Only sell those that are worth something, like Credit/Incentive chips, Perfume, etc. The rest are good for making weapons a lot stronger, but are only worth maybe 20 gil a piece (with the exception of transformation components, used to upgrade Star Level weapons, those can be worth 1,000-5,000 or so. I wouldn't sell them though, since they cost 20,000 to buy).

A couple more questions now, if you don't mind. When can we start upgrading weapons (I'm still on Chapter 4 )? Considering we have to develop them, I assume the number of weapons available is not that high?

You can start upgrading pretty soon. It's either later that chapter, or Chapter 5 if I recall correctly. Btw, all of the weapons can turn into the Ultimate Weapon for those characters, but they'll have different stats based on what you used to get it there (don't expect to get the Ultimate Weapon until you've beaten the game and then some, it costs a lot). Also, if you see that some items don't give much EXP to the weapon, use a lot of them. Like, in the store Creature Comforts, all those items, when used in bulk, give exp bonuses (x2, x3, etc). Then if you shop at Lenora's Garage, those items give a fair amount of exp. So if you use multipliers first, then the big exp items, you'll level up your weapons faster.

Thanks again, that was actually quite helpful. How many levels before you get the Ultimate Weapon, by the way? I tried upgrading the Blazefire Saber with all my resources (just testing), and I only got to level 15.

Well, let's say this. Every single weapon that your character has can turn into the Ultimate Weapon (for Lightning, it's Omega Weapon). Depending on which weapon you upgrade, the stats of the Ultimate Weapon will be different. Upgrading Gladius, for example, will make it Helter-Skelter, which can turn into Omega Weapon with a lot of strength. Upgrading Lionheart, on the other hand, will turn into Ultima Weapon (which is just a weapon, not an Ultimate), and if you turn THAT into Omega Weapon, you'll have the Quick Stagger ability, but less strength than the other Omega Weapon. To get any Ultimate, you have to upgrade a basic weapon, get it to Star Level, transform it, upgrade the new weapon to Star level, and then use a special transformation item, only available in Chapter 13, that costs 2,000,000 Gil (which took me hours to get). So don't plan on getting it soon.

It's level 25 on chapters 7-9 I believe.

Each weapon's mastery level is different, yeah. Same goes with accesories, although those you can usually tell when they'll master.

Considering I only play one hour per day, at the very best, this will take quite some time.

Only one hour a day? Then yeah, getting the Ultimate Weapons will take you a year or so.

Hey guys im on chapter 11 and need farming tips... That doesnt involve behemoths, magasteroths or adamantoises.

My chars are crappy and only hit about 1500 each hit or if the enemys staggered about 7000... help

Oh geez, that's not good. I know you're in Chapter 11, but could you tell us where exactly? Like the name of the place you're currently in? Because you should be doing more. Did you upgrade weapons at all? I had a Star Level Helter Skelter at that point (+448 Str).

If you run up and down the area between base camp and where you fight Hope's eidolon, you can gain quite a bit of CP within a half hour or so. When using your CP, activate the abilities in the three main roles of each character. Don't worry about the stat upgrades on outlying branches at first. When you get all of the abilities unlocked in the three main roles for each character, you can go back and tie up all of the "loose-ends."

you can also run the path between the Juggernaut and the guy that looks like an accordian in Mahabra (I'm not sure if I spelled it right. It is the place with all the broken up machines.). If you run back to the previous save point and save, the battles will respawn.

I still do, once you beat the game it gets more fun with the free roam and Cieth stone Missions.

doesnt anyone know how to get by this one part. im still on the first disc of ffxiii and am having trouble getting by this damn monster it has wings and propellers.
