You guys know the screenshot of you and your Pichu talking to the notch-eared Pichu in Ilex forest? Well I think I just figured out what it's role in the game is.
It'll be the Pokemon you have to bring back to the entrance of the forest instead of Farfetch'd in the original games.
Well, that's just my idea, anyway.

Could be. But I doubt it because you need cut to get there, and the guy with the Farfetch'd gives you cut.
I could be wrong...

It's an event, so I don't think that's the reason it serves.
