The Inevitable Question

So, with Pokemon HeartGold & SoulSilver about to come out in Japan & eventually the rest of the world, we are left with one question; will they stack up to the originals? The game have been given a massive overhaul with fresh, outstandin' graphics & many new innovative features already much better than Diamond, Pearl, & Platinum. But, they are remakes of what are considered to be the two best games in the series, Gold & Silver. Back then THOSE games were seen as revolutionary because of the countless staples that were added to the franchise. So, the question is whether or not these games will be as good as the originals? Will they be considered as some of the best games in the series on down the line? Give you opinions.

Imo, I think they will be considered some of the best games in the series, but I don't think they will be able to top the experience & wonderment the originals had about them. Some players will always choose the originals over the remakes because of how much the game changed when they came out & what fond memories the have with the games. But I already know I will like HG/SS over the rest of the 4th Gen games.

I think they'll top D/P/Pt by a grand scale. The pokedex has been completly remade for this game the ability have a pokemon walk with you, borrowed from the Special Yellow Version, makes it all teh more better. I finally get to have my Aipom walk with my lol. I tried to go back and play Silver a while ago, but am having a hard time playing it without the running shoes lol. I'm getting so excited and yet we still don't release date for Japan(or do we?). Either way, hopefully it'll come out soon.

These games will top Diamond/Pearl/Platinum easily, the features in these games are simply incredible. Having any Pokemon walk with you, improved graphics etc are brilliant features to have, and the nostalgia will be overwhelming (? lol). These game will be incredible, but nothing will ever beat the experience of walking through Johto for the first time, with the fantastic music playing as well. The remakes wont feel as good as the originals, but they will be damn awesome

They will make the roof fall in ratings considered to D/P/Pl.

They'll definately trump D/P/Pt. Of that I have no doubt. It's obvious why - better graphics, better plot (including a much better Team. Team Galactic were quite funny, but their ideals and plans were ridiculously far-fetched (or should I say, Far-Fetch'd?) and unrealistic. Team Rocket are simple and very plausible) and the game is overall longer. Gold, Silver and Crystal took at least 30 hours to beat if you knew what you were doing. I'm not sure about Platinum, but Diamond and Pearl didn't take that long. Those reasons amongst many others.

Whether they'll top the originals, though, only time will tell. Sure we get some great 4th gen updates, but will they feel too different? Even so, I'm really looking forward to these games.

Well it might have new features but fire red is the best yet in my opinion.

I got bored of FireRed/LeafGreen after playing through them a few times. Can't get into them much these days. Yellow was the best Kanto game.

However, I found getting bored of Crystal impossible. The same goes for Gold and Silver before the memory buggered up.

The Hoenn games are, in my opinion, the worst of the bunch.

I personally think that HeartGold, and SoulSilver will top the fourth generation by a landslide. Seeing as I enjoyed playing my Gold, and Silver games back in the days they came out, there's no doubt I'll get to have the fun I'll have by playing the new version of the second generation.

for me hoenn was the worst tied with the kanto remakes.

for me i have yo probaly preorder mine or they'll all be sold..and preorder quick.(because modern warfare 2 is basically sold out and it hasbt even came out)

Coach, I have to admit you have a point, but I think it will top the originals. The originals were fun and memorable, but now I know so much more, like about EVs and IVs, and better movesets. It may not have the same feel, but with all the knowledge I've gained combined with one of the most legendary games ever created, I think it'll be way better compared to my old reasoning.

I never disliked Hoenn; I actually liked it. Kanto is the worst IMO, ironically.

Yeah HG/SS will top all others for sure. I loved playing the originals and i still play them to this day. So i cant wait for them to come out in Spring.


By the way, Fire Red and Leaf Green are the worst but not to bad, but i lik R/B/Y

FR/LG sucked because they were in the same Gen as R/S/E & they had almost no new features in comparison to all the new stuff in R/S/E. But this time, they've added tons brand new features. Imo, it's stuff they wanted to add in the originals but they didn't have the storage on the game cards to do it.

I'm hoping for Mt. Moon to be expanded to its' true length, too.

In Kanto, it was only big room.

3rd gen was the worst overall, but that doesn't mean it was bad. I liked Emerald, but I just don't think it compared to 1st, 2nd and 4th gen. FR/LG changed too much from the originals and were too alike in comparison with R/S/E. Hopefully, HG/SS won't lose its 'classic' feel, but at least it has plenty of new features to distinguish itself from D/P/Pt.
