As far as I am aware, points are given out for every forum post and submission you make on the site, a few for each post and much more for a submission.
I'm not too sure on the current moderator criteria. But you must be regularly active and usually have to have a minimum number of posts within a specific thread before you can be considered for a position there.
Pro? Clicking on the title tells how you attain it. And experts are the top 5/10 users who answer the most/answer most concisely about questions for a particular game.
Points; http://www.supercheats.com/supercheats-stats.htm Right hand side of that page, just scroll down a bit, will answer that for you.
Becoming a Mod has become much more difficult (apparently) these days. You've got to be active, have a good rapport with Staff and the frequenters of the forum you're applying for as well as showing a sound understand of the rules. Then you've got to wait until the Smods/Admins decide the Mod ranks could do with a shake-up and open application threads. Then apply stating why you think youd be a good choice & wait for their decision.

"Forever in this heart of mine, an everlasting bond. From now until the end of time, are memories so fond."
From now on, moderators are nominations only. If we see you fit for the job, we'll offer it to you. No more public applications. For four main reasons I can think of:
a) Filip's eyes would give out after reading through 2000 pages of applications b) Making 45 threads is a pain in the butt c) Ensures new moderators we know can handle the position with no real "trial" period" d) The main purpose for the shakeups was to steadily lower the number in the first place.
No, it's not impossible to get a position though, since people come and go, resign, and we need people to fill their spots. Just be patient, and do well, and we may choose you one day ;)
