I was trying to send a PM to Mike and instead of the Submit and (presumably) Cancel buttons, I got broken image links.
The wonderfully circled buttons demonstrate my problem.

Chances are you had a greater than or less than symbol in your message. That always seems to mess it up.
As for your problem, I wonder why the images didn't load... This is one of the big reasons I suggested switching to CSS3 gradients. I guess some of those old buttons still exist.

No. A greater than or less than symbol refers it for moderation.
And make sure you're on each others friend list. We have a setting that allows anyone to send him PM's regardless of whether or not they're on your friends list, but it doesn't work. At all.
