Help me with a goal?

For the neighbors quest thing, I need to make pulled pork (which takes 17 hours) on a neighbors grill. I've got a neighbor with hat, but I can't seem to make it work. I bring my sim to the town, start the task, leave, and if I come back, he/she's not doing the task anymore, and they haven't finished it either! Has anyone gotten this that would be willing to help?
