A very well-known figure in the Catholic Church worldwide (is based in Australia) was today sentenced to 6 years imprisonment (3 years 8 months if parole is granted) for sexual assault/abuse crimes committed 22 years ago. He consistently pleaded not guilty, but all the facts point to him abusing his position of power and assaulting 2 boys and possibly raping another (can't remember whether male or female).
Clearly there's been a big problem with sexual abuse of young children in and around the Catholic Church. The hope is that, even though the punishment was lenient, it will scare priests around the world who are doing this into stopping their practices.
Any thoughts?

Another in a long line of people found to be user their position of power and influence to take advantage of others. Sad how common this is. Can only hope that the more people are found out and punished the less it will happen in future.
