I think the easiest person (team) to get the emeralds with would be team rose. I think this because they're levels are short, and they are good in the bonus levels.

For some what apparent reason I find using Team Dark the best for the Emerald challenges despite the fact that they're meant to be the hardest.

Use team rose. Their levels are shorter, but sometimes its harder to get the emerald cuz theyre slow. I got 4 emeralds with team rose i think.

I only have 3 Emeralds actually at the moment, but I'm only at like stage 11 or 12 and all of them were achieved by Team Dark.

Chaos Emeralds are well easy, i did some of them with Team Dark, Rose and Sonic, took me a while but did it eventually, don't worry it's hard but you gotta keep yourself on the spheres while speeding by pressing Squ. when your bar is at least level 3, then hit it repeatedly like once every second. Believe me if you think the Emeralds were hard, Metal Overlord is a bit more harder.

I'm not saying it's hard, I'm just saying I can't find the right techique to successfully complete it. BTW, if you hold down square in that, you go faster, but you use up more of the Light Dash energy.

Alright, I'll give the lowdown:
Think of it as if you were grinding, would you tap square to go faster? No you wouldn't cause that would be stupid to do.
Now, holding square in the Special stages makes you go faster, but uses up your light dash much more quickly, but by tapping it you use up less Light Dash and is more controlled, but it isn't as fast.

I'm still having problems getting them, but I finally managed to complete Final Fortress and Egg Emporer.
Edit: Right, this is my final thing about the Light Dash feature in the bonus stages: You only go faster by holding square once your bar is full, as in all Levels for it.
