Shiny pokemon question

Hello!!
I have a question about shinys. How do you get them? Do they just appear?
If so how often do they appear?
I have wasted hours looking for them. I see alot of people that have shinys.
I have beaten Sapphire three times. Ruby two times. And fire red two times.
I have not seen ONE shiny in all of that game playing.
How much of a chance do I have of seeing one? Let alone catch one.

well its a matter of luck really, it is possible to get them but you could also spend countless hours searching for one and not even spot it, shiny pokemon appear at randomness really

Ohhhh... Ok then... I have looked and looked.. I want a shiny magikarp or gyarados. Even though I hate magikarp I would love to have a shiny one. Or even Zubat for that matter...
I just want a shiny!!!!! Oh I have a question! If I were to see a shiny... I would put Ditto out to battle them.. For a reason.
When Ditto transforms into them. He will become shiny... right?
I would think that ditto would copy the genes and become shiny.
Maybe? Can someone answer that question please?

there is a millon chances of finding one I have a Ar so I can find them easly. Ive only found 1 normally that was a Wurmple

iv found a gold pochyena!!!! at the beg.

.....*sigh*..... I will have too just keep looking...
And just wait... and wait... I have tried to look for a magikarp.
I have not found one of those.. let alone any other pokemon..
oooooh welll.... I will keep looking...

OOOO!! Nother question! I have started over on my Pokemon Sapphire game... Do I have a chance of getting a shiny Latias??
If I restart a lot? Dont you have a better chance of getting one of those pokemon? And maybe Kyogre? Or Rayquaza? Please answer..

For legends like kyogre and groudon yoy can just keep saving and switching on and of till their shiny. With lati@s you have to use an Ar or be the luckest in the world.

I think you have a better chance of getting a shiny Latios or Latias then you do other pokemon. I think it is like.... 1 in 700? maybe?

before I went ahead and caught it not shiny. I guess some day I will just get lucky and find one when I least expect it.
What was funny about the Kyogre... When I caught it... I had the HP in the yellow almost in the green range... and had it paralyzed (spelling?) and the first ball I threw at it caught it. It was a Net Ball. I did the B + UP thing.. I wonder if that had something to do with it. And congrats to The_Arbiter101 for rinding a shiny Oddish!
I wish I would have known Kyogre would catch that easily before I spent a bunch of money on Timer Balls, Ultra Balls and Net Balls.. And dont forget Potions! And Revives! LOL. If I come across a rare, really strong hard-to-catch pokemon I am all set! LOL!!!

Uh I thought shiny pikachi were orange. Where did you get a rainbow one?
