Is it possible to burn an fire type or freeze an ice type or even poison a poison type ya know types that are the same as there moves is it possible to be affected.

most of the time they are protected against them but sometimes on certain ones it happens

once my metagross was poisoned by twineedle=/ but you can't burn a fire pokemon and can't poison a poison pokemon

i think you can freeze and burn by using tri-attack but ive never seen it

Can't they get burnt by Flame Body? Or the attack Willo-the-wisp?

Tri-Attack only has a 10% chance of inflicting status, so that's a 0.33% chance of you being able to test successfully using the move. I wouldn't recommend it. Just go for Will'o'Wisp and Toxic. When Diamond and Pearl comes out there's a move called Freeze or something which inflicts a Freeze, try that if you get them.

I think there are certain fire types that can get a burn but I'm not sure which fire pokemon..

Once when I was fighting Moltres on Firered, I burned it with Will-o-wisp. So yeah, sometimes you can inflict status problems on pokemon of that type.

Freeze doesn't literaly freeze your opponent I think it just disables their item

It's possible. You can use Thunder Wave on Jolteon for example. Try and experiment on different Pokemon if you aint sure.

yah the pokemon is unable to move but you can melt it with a fire attack.

I get confused with the status Freeze and the move. But SZ is right, Freeze you cant move, the move Freeze dissallows the use of opponents item.

It doesn't matter what type the pokemon are, any status affiction can be applied to them, unless of course the ability of the pokemon prevents it.
