Turn out it was a slang term used in star wars for newcomer or newbie. Behold:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Noob

That site has everything on star wars and is a branch of wikipedia.

In Joker Squad of the New Galactic Empire stormtrooper corps' 407th Division, an unseasoned recruit was pejoratively labeled a noob, presumably a slang abbreviation of newbie or newcomer. Whether the term was used in the wider stormtrooper corps or even the Galaxy at large is unknown.

When Anson Trask was promoted to Joker Squad in 137 ABY, he acquired the moniker, which ironically saved him from the retribution of Darth Maleval when Trask annoyed the Sith Lord. He would outgrow the title in the eyes of his peers after he later shot and killed Maleval.

The word may have been derived from the term newbie, a Gungan slang term with a similar meaning that enjoyed galactic notoriety.

I agree with Yossy.... Maybe the creators kid was using the word.

I hate to burst your bubble but I will anyway, if you say the word "newbie" out loud and then again but miss off the last syllable then you find your origin.
sigs are for losers

Go play Mortal Kombat 3 and/or Deception and/or Armageddon. There's a character called Noob Saibot. Ironically, he's one of the best characters in the game.

EDIT: In fact, here's a wikipedia about him.

They did not call him Noob Saibot cause he sucks Seos, his name is the name of the creators of the game backwords, Boon and Tobias.

He's the old Sub Zero, of course he pwnz.

...And on topic: It's likely... but I doubt it. I meant when I'm bored on the internet, I tend to change the lettering of words. Noob=Newb has the same effect.

I'm actually well aware of that fact, thank you. I was just mentioning a trivial fact.

I don't see how we can find the origin of a word like that. As T-Virus pointed out, I truly believe it was just changing letters.

Example: Pwn. Sure you could try to find some amazingly far fetched idea about how the word came about. But the likelyhood is that it was a typo.

Where did 1337 come from? It came from the word elite, which was transformed to fit internet lingo. Where did n00b come from? I believe is came from newb.

This idea may not be so farfetched:
Maybe someone said something like "That guy completely owned that game", exagerrating how good that person was. Eventually it might of caught on and been made into a slang word.
But how it came to be known as 'pwn' I have no idea.

Pwn originated in some game where a programmer or something misspelt "owned" Thus, the player has been pwned.

Yeah, coz on a QWERTY keyboard, O & P are next to each other, so sometimes you end up saying pwned instead of owned, and I guess it caught on =\

Exactly. No matter how many odd stories you might be able to find, pwn is just a typo that became a purposeful misspelling that became a slang term. similarly, I think noob is just playing with letters.

Maybe the creators of that Star Wars comic were illiterate?
