Is it just me or...

Anyone else miss how traditional Final Fantasy played? I mean Final Fantasy XII is a very good game, but I just pefferred how Final Fantasy was before.

I really like the way old FF's played, but i think this one is also great. Especially when you get sick of random encounters

Thats a good point... random encounters were not fun when I trying to explore the world map, dungeons, and caves. It was always first step or two... and you get in a battle.

Ya, it seems that everyone likes this new battle system and I do too. But sometimes I miss the old one since I always was able to get a charm accessory to avoid random encounters or lure them.

I like the old battle system alot better I like to control all the characters not just the leader and they way you use the Espers is just useless they either die or you die without your team mates. FFX was the best game for me

I miss it. I do like the speed of walking through a place today, but Final Fantasy IX was for me. I miss walking around THE WHOLE WORLD, not just a tiny section. While the newer "areas" system is more realistic, I miss the old ways. I really miss the melting screen and battle sequence. and training chocobo's that you can keep...

Yeah I agree! Every time id think of FF I would picture a giant world map for me to explore and find all kinds of areas and secrets... Does anyone think they might go back to old battle systems, and old exploring style? I miss it... thinking about it makes me go play the older ones just so I could get the FF feeling agian... call me crazy but I think they might go back to it.

I like Star Ocean 3's style though. Instead of random encounters, you could see the enemies on the field, and if you touch them, it would go into a separate battle screen.

If they had the old FF combat style, and mixed it with that, it would be the best thing IMO

Ya, that would probly be way better because I'm starting to get really annoyed with those dang elementals that attack for using any kind of spell. But Sparta, you got to understand that the only FF had more than 1 disk and weaker graphics so they could fit more on. Now that the graphics are better the game will be shorter and they won't always be able to fit all that back in. I don't know but for ps3 they maybe able to do this since they got more space now. But I guess we have to wate and see for FF13.

I don't think it's a space issue on the PS2. I think it's a "what do we want to do" issue.

I thought that the way it was played before was too much like Pok'e'mon and thrived on luck in battles.

Dont you mean, Pokemon was like Final Fantasy?

I would play it too, but i let Neptis borrow it. So im playing SO: The Second Story, which still annoyingly had the random encounters

I like the idea of mixing the battle systems of those two game if would be much better

Speaking of new battle systems, do you think their going to do another new battle system for Final Fantasy 13 or do you think they'll go on with the single player MMORPG type battle system?

I think they are gonna still go with their new MMORPG, because some people like alot. I think its pretty good battle system... just takes some time to get ajusted to it.

It'll be a much faster paced battle system this time. You can queue 5 commands at a time

That trailer was amazing... and that looks like intense gameplay too!

But was that a gunblade she was using? Will this have any relation to FFVIII?

Yeah its a new type of gunblade, that switches between gun and blade modes

I'll like this one then. The gunblade is my faverite FF weapon in the series.
