What is better? Personally, I'm going for Classic Rock, but Modern Rockers like White Stripes, RHCP and Wolfmother are great too. Post your opinions!
Examples:
Classic: Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple, Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd
Nu/Modern: Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, White Stripes, Helmet, Wolfmother

Metallica can be considered oldschool to by now.

Yeah, Metallica started around 1981, and their first album came out in '83. So im pretty sure they should be considered classic.

Nah, Metallica really isn't classic. They just have a classic sound. My reason for saying this is that Chili's started around the early eighties, but are considered modern.

I really have no time for classic rock, metallica are good but it seems to everyone they aren't classed as classic? well yeah i think the modern stuff wins nearly every time allthough i don't see what all the hype is about with regards to wolfmother????

First of all I just have to say that even thoguh they are a new band, they are considered a classic rock revival band, playing oldschool sounding music, they should be under classic rock. modren/post-modern, it has emo and screamo and gothic subgenres. But only wins by a little bit.

Actually they started in 1983. Their first album came out in 1984. I think the only reason they're counted as modern is because their still as popular now as they were where at their peak. Normally they would be classic
