This has worried me since I've discovered how to trigger the marriage of girls in Mineral Town and their rivals. (Viewing all the Rival Heart Events)
I've noticed on several walkthroughs, a specific [year] has been noted for the rival heart event to happen in.
Must you be in the noted year, or are the authors of these walkthroughs pointing out which year it happened to them in?

that is the year you must be in at least, if it says year 2 you can still trigger on year 3,4,5...ect but not any year lower
