I looked that up and it said you need an E-Reader and this guy went in and fought Giovanni. Im not sure thats what happened though

you need an e-reader. you know thoose cards for the e-reader right?
well if you swap the card through the e-reader you get to battle the person that was on the card. So for what trunks245 said, the guy probably swapped Giovanni through the e-reader. i am 90% sure of this.
