Its wierd that they call it football when they use hands. But I dont know where the word soccer came from....

I think American Football is named after the ball itself, which is a called a football. (elongated instead of round so they thought it looked like a foot? lol)

I checked up on the history of it and it mentions nothing about how the founder or "Father of American Football" came to calling it American Football and how Football became soccer.
I mean we knew its origins were Rugby and Football, but for some reason in the history books as well it claims that Rugby's full name is Rugby football which is absurd by any means.

Then why is it that on TV listings and what not it says clearly Football and not soccer?
