I can't seem to get the pillbug, can the rocks really break? They never break for me, so help ASAP!

Just keep hitting the rocks and look closly for a small dot to bounce of it. It will be the Pillbug.
I've heard a rock breaks once you have talked to Resetti a few times, although I haven't personally tried it.
