When i went to play in MW2 earlier it reset all my data for spec ops and story mode, luckily my online data is still there. (Lucky for the people at PS3 or if it was gone i think some skulls would be smashed)
So has it happened to anyone else?

Yes, but I know why it happened to me, twice.
Oh, and your online stats aren't saved on your PS3, they're saved on Activision or Infinity Ward servers.
First time: My PS3 got YLoD and I had to get a new one.
Second time: I was deleting an offline profile (Me and my bro play sometimes) and accidentally deleted my save game, which is Spec Ops and Campaign, I had some of the campaign levels done on the hardest difficulty, which I forgot the name of right now, but it really sucked...

It's far from accidental. For the PC version if you happen to uninstall Modern Warfare 2 for whatever reason (in my case it was a new laptop), your Spec Ops results aren't recorded in the same manner as the multiplayer stats so you lose those along with the campaign completion.

I did'nt delete anything on my PS3, it just come up with the usual stuff when you first buy the game.

I had that happen once and while looking trough my offline data i noticed that many of my other games data was gone too. but i had backed up my data to a external hardrive so it didnt matter much
