Well they are not that hard if you train well. I can give you the compleat list of Dark Aeons and where to beat them if you like.

Dark Valefor at the entrence of Besaide
Dark Ifrit is in the desert right before you are about to enter home (talk to the woman who has lost her kid)
Dark Ixion is at the thunder plains (you have to talk to a man under a tower)
Dark Shiva is at Macalania Temple
Dark Bahamuth is were you fought Yunalessca
Dark Anima you have to do wakkas ball trial at the Mt.Gagazet again.
Dark Yojimbo is in the sunken cave. (were you found him, Teleport to the end and walk back)
Dark Magus sisters is at mi`hen high road (two of them are just standing there walk close by them)

That is all of them

dats r8 cause if ya have the American version u dont get the dark aeons which is a bit of a bummer but if you have the European version den u get them

when you start a new game who do you normally focus your training on? I mostly offer it to yuna and lulu, ladies first!

I focus on Yuna throughout the entire game. She's never out of my party unless I have no say in the matter... I love to use my aeons.

I don't really focus my training unless I have to. I just use the characters who are best for that particular battle (eg. flying monster = Wakka). Although I like to build up everyones overdrive before a boss fight (except the early bosses, like Tros and Sin's Fin).
