Well the Espers in FF XII were taken from previous FF's as well (with the exeption of Shemhazai):
Chaos - FF 1 end boss
Zeromus - FF 4 end boss
Exodus - FF 5 end boss and main villian (Exdeath)
Famfrit - FF 3 end boss (called Dark Cloud. Famfrits title is "The Darkening Cloud"), also a FF TA Totema
Belius - FF Tactics Lucavi demon (mistranslated as Velius)
Adrammelech - FF Tactics Lucavi demon (mistranslated as Adramelk)
Zalera - FF Tactics Lucavi demon
Hashmal - FF Tactics Lucavi demon (Hashmalum)
C�chulainn - FF Tactics Lucavi (mistranslated as Queklain)
Mateus - FF 2 end boss (Emperor)
Ultima - FF T Lucavi demon and end boss (mistranslated as Altima), and a FF TA Totema

Yeah, pretty much. Although barely any of them look like any of the older versions
Also i noticed during the final battle of XII, you hear one of the ships names is Garland. Garland was the first boss to appear in the series

I have added more info on my first post of the confirmed summons so far. It looks like there is going to be a summon but has 3 different levels of summoning which is toally new to me.

Fenrir and Carbuncle in IX had a similar style. If you have a certain item equipped, the would use different attacks

Thats the strange thing about Fenrir in XII. He looks more like a cat in this one. Fenrir is supposed to be a wolf

Yeah, Fenrir was an Esper in VI and an Eidolon in IX. as you can see here. And was also the name of Clouds bike in FF VII: Advent Children

I always think he cut out the shape of a 6 pack on an A1 piece of paper, put it over his chest and sat out in the sun all day
