i have had a 24 chain quickening and got black hole which i think is the best one agains the Elder Wyrm in Golmore Jungle i was level 38 at that point though.

i can never get more than 16 in a quickening chain except for this one time when i got 22

i have only got the 24 chain once and i was lucky i only pressed R2 twice i think. i usually get between 10 and 16 but sometimes i only get 5 or 6 it's all down to luck i think.

i dont rely on them either but i do use them a lot since i kinda like getting a massive hit on bosses when they have little life left.
