I started over the game again and did that mission. He didn't die*, but he didn't show up for the rest of the game.

You know, this game has a pretty short storyline compared to other games I've played. I think there were like 100 missions in this game or something, but they're so easy now, taking like 5 days. It's nothing like San Andreas or Resident Evil's missions.
