I can't strum down. I can but it won't activate the notes on the game. It only works when I strum up. Please help

The only way I hear of people fixing it is to just buy a new guitar, but I think its possible to take the face plate off and look inside.

I have the the same problem, but I had some kind of guarantee on my guitar, so I just gave it to the guys in the store where I bought it, and now im waiting for it to get fixed, or a getting a new one frome them, for free.
